Happy Woo Wednesdays! 2019 highlights

Happy Woo Wednesdays!

I hope you had the best Christmas / Holiday week!

I hope your heart is full and that you get to spend as much quality time with the ones you love. 2019 has been amazing. I am so grateful for your support through the years. God has been good and faithful. Here’s some highlights of the year.

Stu and I have worked hard this year while raising Piper. Stu is working not stop over time as a police officer and I worked my butt off too. We do it because we have both found our passion. I’m proud of my little family. Life doesn’t come without ups and downs but knowing we have each other brings me confidence and happiness. We know when we need to rest, take breaks, take small vacations to nature to disconnect to reconnect.

The little things are the most important to me. Taking Piper to the park, staying home and relaxing. True quality time and being present is all I need.

2020 Mantra - I encourage you to write a mantra for the year too.

I wrote this post on Instagram last week.

I've been reflecting on 2019 and I came up with a mantra for next year. My mantra for 2020 is "family first". All my business decisions, social engagements and obligations will be based on this mantra. I will repeat this mantra to myself everyday.

I had to really think about this. Mantras cans be anything. Examples "Go for your dreams, even if they scare you" or "Take on all new opportunities that lead you to your dreams", "Find love and kindness everywhere you go" 💯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm going to focus my thoughts around this one phrase this upcoming year, "Family first". ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Business will always be here and I will always be motivated and focused. That is in my blood. (Since I've been a wedding photographer for 11 years). 👨‍👩‍👧
This past year, I was busy chasing opportunities, hustling to stay on top, busy networking, creating content and maintaining relationships. It was great and I benefited from it, but it's time to slow down a bit, only take on Dream Clients and remember what is most important. Piper is only little once. 📅 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The Carissa Woo Photography Team

Click to see a slideshow of my 2019 wedding clients. I have the more amazing clients that are head over heels in love.

This is the Carissa Woo Photography Team (Margot, Michell and Lisa). We took team photos last week in Long Beach. Thanks Marcella for the photos.

I love these girls and we have photographed over 30 weddings / events this year. Adding associates to my business has been the best decision. Not only are these girls vibrant and talented but they are my dear friends and we have so much fun together.

Fun IGTV Video of the team

Here is a little video of our team shoot. We chat about our 2020 goals. I want my weddings for 2020 to be beyond colorful, vibrant and fun. I’m already more than half way booked and the weddings I’ve booked are just that. Working with the dream client makes my passion for photography on fire!

Named Best Wedding Photographer

I won Best Wedding Photographer Orange County for California Wedding Day and it was a dream come true! I accepted the award with my team in front of more than 800 wedding industry creatives at the Vibianna. I was completely shocked and I balled my eyes out. What an honor after pouring my heart and soul in this business for more than a decade. It opened doors for me and the team. Check out this epic event here.

Videography

I added videography to my business and I ask myself why I didn’t do this sooner. I’ve been using the same videographers for 7 years but now it’s all under Carissa Woo Photography. Adding video has been a game changer. Photography and Videography go hand and hand and it’s so much fun to give my creative direction with these weddings.

Piper goes to school !

My baby has grown up. Piper started school, Japanese school to be exact. My hubby is Japanese and I’m Chinese. I was nervous about this for a long time because I didn’t know how Piper would adjust. She is sooooo shy! It was hard to see her cry every morning for a month but she loves it now.

Besides school, Piper is at the cutest age and my heart is literally going to explode everyday. She has the cutest little Disney character voice and she is sooo smart! She gives me surprises all day we couldn’t be luckier.

IGTV - Woo Wednesdays! Check it out here

I was consistent about posting a video every Wednesday about photography and biz tips / giving highlights about the events I attended and interviewing leaders in the creative industry. I had so much fun doing this. I felt like a  journalist just like my big sis. I want to continue to serve you with fun content.

Wonderly Jewerly - I started an online shop for earrings

My sister in-law decided we wanted to start a online shop and sell the cutest earrings. We bring pops of color to your ears. I have been gifting my brides with beautiful earrings to wear at their engagement session and weddings. It adds so much style to the shoot. Shop shop shop here.

Random Reflections for the new year.

This will probably be my favorite quote to live by every year.

I believe the most valuable gift you can give yourself is time, time to be more fully present. Your journey to become more inspired and connected to the deeper world around us starts right now. This is the beginning words of Oprah Super Soul Conversations Podcast.

Yes, it starts now, this is a new decade.! You can be whoever you want to be. You can choose happiness and surrounding yourself by people that life you up and care about you.

Thank you for reading! I hope you stay inspired for 2020 and I want you to know that you inspire me everyday!
